New Details Released for the Bassmaster High School Championship

Good Afternoon,
After numerous discussions with the Tournament Department, Conservation Director as well as South Carolina Department of Natural Resources we have made the decision to reduce the tournament limit for the 2023 Junior Nation Championship and the 2023 High School National Championship from a 5 fish limit down to a 3 fish limit. This decision was based on the high summer temperatures that are forecast as well as the number of competitors. Our goal at BASS is to always leave a fishery and surrounding just as we have found it as we strive to keep conservation at the forefront of our mission. The BASS Conservation agenda focuses on 6 main pillars; scientific fish management, habitat, aquatic invasive species management, aquatic vegetation management, angler access and with Tournament Fish Care being the reason we are able to continue to host these great events.

Belonging to the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, means more than simply being a member in an organization of bass anglers. The Society means more. Since the early 1970s, B.A.S.S. has taken an active role in addressing aquatic resource issues. In the early years, it meant taking legal action against industries polluting our nation’s waterways. Today, the agenda has grown more complex. B.A.S.S. now works together, often on parallel paths, with a cadre of partner organizations such as the American Sportfishing Association, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership to protect aquatic resources and the sport of bass fishing. The backbone of our effort is founded on a grass-roots core of B.A.S.S. members and those belonging to B.A.S.S. Nation clubs across the country. They are the stewards of our natural resources, always on the lookout for issues that have local, regional and even national significance.
I appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you on the water at Lake Hartwell in the next couple weeks. Attached to this email you will see the revised tournament information sheet showing that a 3 fish limit will be enforced at 2023 Junior and 2023 High School National Championships as well as document that highlights fish care that will be vital. Please make sure to go over this document with boat captains and anglers.
