How to Qualify for Nationals
(NEW SEASON FORMAT – PLEASE READ)
New Format Overview: Because of the new requirements from B.A.S.S. and B.A.S.S. Nation, Alabama B.A.S.S. Nation High School (ABNHS) has made revisions on how anglers qualify for the BASSMASTER High School National Championship. Please see the edits in our Regional Qualifiers, Anglers of the Year and ABNHS State Championship for the 2019-2020 Tournament Season.
Please note – ALL anglers competing in ABNHS or a sanctioned trail must have a current BASSMASTER Membership and must be listed on a current BASSMASTER High School Roster.
Alabama Bass Nation HIGH SCHOOL Trail Nationals Composition: This season’s tournament trail is based on 8 Regionals (4 Tiger / 4 Tide) and 1 High School State Championship. AOY Points will be based on Individual Boats best 3 finishes of 4 tournaments they competed in for both Tide and Tiger Divisions. *Please see schedule for full details on each regional tournament.

Alabama Bass Nation HIGH SCHOOL Trail State Composition: This season’s tournament trail is based on 8 Regionals (4 Tiger / 4 Tide) and 1 High School State Championship. *Please See Schedule for full details on each Regional tournament.
INDIVIDUAL (2-Man Team) Opportunities to Qualify for State:
- 2-Man Teams – Finish in the Top 25 at a Regional Qualifier
(This applies to High School ONLY. Double qualifiers will be removed. Which means, once a 2-Man Team has qualified, we will move down our Individual Results and remove 2-Man Teams that have previously qualified. Example: Top 25 from our 2nd Regional Qualifier, 6 have already qualified from our 1st Regional Qualifiers, we would then move down to 31st place from the individual results in the 2nd Regional Qualifier.
- High School Wildcard “Summer” Shootout
(This is a NEW Edition to our schedule this season! This is an end of the season “extra” opportunity to qualify for the State Championship. This tourney is for individual 2-Man Teams that have not qualified for the State Championship and for 2-Man Teams that have not participated with ABNHS this season. Sanctioned trail participants may also compete in this tournament, if not previously qualified for State. (1) berth to the State Championship for every (10) 2-Man Teams entered in this tournament. This event is OPEN to all teams both in State and out of State.
6-Man Team Opportunities to Qualify for State:
- Top 3 – 6-Man Teams from each of the 8 Regional Qualifiers
(We WILL NOT drop down for double qualifiers for State in the 6-Man Team Competition. Also, please note: Top 3 – 6-Man Teams from each Regional Qualifier can advance to the State Championship to compete in the 6-Man Team competition.)
