A special message from Randy Howell

Hello everyone, Another tournament season has flown by and it’s time for our annual Kings Home KIDS fishing event at Kampfire for the King in Chelsea, AL November 14th.

This will be the 10th anniversary for the fishing event and boat giveaway!! This event helps raise money for the kids and ladies homes each year. This year has been exceptionally hard due to Covid-19, so we’re hoping to bring some excitement back to the Kings Home campus with our “Kampfire for the King” event.

This fishing rodeo and outdoor event is the highlight of the year for the kids living in the homes at Kings Home, and we’re hoping you’ll help us make memories that’ll last a lifetime!

The event will take place at the same location as always, the Kings Home campus in Chelsea Alabama November 14th. The fishing rodeo portion we will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday morning and we will conclude at 1:45pm. We’d love to have as many JR high and high school fishing team members in attendance as possible, and it’s a great opportunity to help give back to the local community and help kids that may never get to go fishing like we do.

These kids are looking forward to this event because it’s the only day they get personal attention from expert fishing team members like you all!

This year we’re trying to get trout stocked into the lake by Alabama Aquarium and pond services. If this works out as planned, we will encourage everyone from the community to come fish for trout and take them home to eat for free. We may even have cleaning stations set up for the fish to be filleted and bagged to carry home, so please invite everyone to come fishing with the kids at Kings Home.

We will also have another one hour shoot-out tournament for the top “fishing team” at the end of the event like we did last year. After all the kids have finished fishing around 12:45, we will send everyone out to fish for one hour, and the fishing team with the largest number of BASS will win a $100 gift card from Marks Outdoors. Thanks again to John Norris and Marks Outdoors for sponsoring the fishing event with tackle, equipment, and prizes!!

Special thanks to the guys at the Alabama Aquarium and Pond Services for stocking the King’s Home lake with more bass and bream, so fishing should be better than ever!

Lew Burdette at Kings home will give each fishing team community service points for your help, just be sure to sign your name and team info on the registration sheet that morning, and Kings Home will send a community service letter to your administrators on your behalf.

It’s a very fun and simple volunteer service day, and whether you’re in a group, or coming individually, everyone is welcome. There will be food vendors on site and parking will be at Forest Oaks elementary school in Chelsea, right beside the lake, the same as last year. The fishing will begin at 10:00am so be there a little early if possible. Bring your own tackle for fishing afterwards and PLEASE WEAR YOUR JERSEY!!

You should also bring needle nose pliers, a towel, line cutters and tools for removing hooks from fish with little mouths, and if you plan on taking any trout home to eat you may want to have a cooler in your truck.

We will be done with all fishing by 1:45 PM and we will begin giving out prizes shortly after. Then we will start the live-streamed drawing for my boat giveaway around

2 o’clock, and that will conclude the event.

Any coaches or parents planning to attend, PLEASE EMAIL US at rrhowell@windstream.net or TEXT ME @205-492-9808 so we will have an idea of how many we will have.

Lastly, don’t forget about the boat giveaway! Thanks to your generosity, we set a new record last year, and we’re ready to break it AGAIN this year!
